She Got Her 66-year-old Bicycle Back

In Lewiston Maine last week, a woman's 1943 blue Huffy bicycle was stolen from a nursing home. The woman had received the bicycle 66 years ago as a gift when she was 17 years old. The original story of the 66-year-old stolen bicycle was published by the Associated Press and widely circulated in print, online, and even on the radio.

So in typical Maine style, the bicycle was returned to the Police Department and returned to its original owner this week. What's strange is while I can find a ton of links about the theft itself, I can't find any about the recovery. Well, at least it was a happy ending!

Don't you love living in Maine?

Here Comes the Sun. For 5 minutes

Every day for the last couple of weeks has started out sunny. Tempting and beautiful. Then somehow before noon the clouds roll in, ruining my illusion that it is indeed warm outside again. I love the seasons but mud season seems to drag itself out.

At least we get to have fun reading about the horrific road conditions caused by the recent storm. All of the roads pictured needed to be redone anyway! Hopefully now we'll get some federal money to fix the washouts.

It Pays To Be Active with UCU's NEW rewardU checking!

If you live in Maine and have a connection to the University of Maine in anyway, this deal on their new RewardU checking account is hard to beat anywhere! I use ING Direct right now for their high interest rates on checking and savings but this definitely beats the current ING rates of around 1.5%.
