MyGym Comes to Brewer - Fun for your kids from 6 weeks to 13 years

MyGym comes to Brewer/Bangor! Finally, something else to do with your children that involves physical activity indoors. The Maine Discovery Museum is great, but it can be hard to find variety in our area. That is why I am so excited about the new MyGym that opened at Twin City Plaza, 256 State St, Brewer, ME 04412.

If you're looking for something to with your baby, toddler, preschooler or anxious grade schooler (especially in all this rain & those cold long winter weekends), this is definitely a place to check out. Their schedule is clearly posted online and they hold structured classes, as well as free time when you can just bring your kids along to get out their excess energy!  You can also join their online community, hold a birthday party there, or register for a class.

She Got Her 66-year-old Bicycle Back

In Lewiston Maine last week, a woman's 1943 blue Huffy bicycle was stolen from a nursing home. The woman had received the bicycle 66 years ago as a gift when she was 17 years old. The original story of the 66-year-old stolen bicycle was published by the Associated Press and widely circulated in print, online, and even on the radio.

So in typical Maine style, the bicycle was returned to the Police Department and returned to its original owner this week. What's strange is while I can find a ton of links about the theft itself, I can't find any about the recovery. Well, at least it was a happy ending!

Don't you love living in Maine?

Here Comes the Sun. For 5 minutes

Every day for the last couple of weeks has started out sunny. Tempting and beautiful. Then somehow before noon the clouds roll in, ruining my illusion that it is indeed warm outside again. I love the seasons but mud season seems to drag itself out.

At least we get to have fun reading about the horrific road conditions caused by the recent storm. All of the roads pictured needed to be redone anyway! Hopefully now we'll get some federal money to fix the washouts.

It Pays To Be Active with UCU's NEW rewardU checking!

If you live in Maine and have a connection to the University of Maine in anyway, this deal on their new RewardU checking account is hard to beat anywhere! I use ING Direct right now for their high interest rates on checking and savings but this definitely beats the current ING rates of around 1.5%.

Mud Season

The snow is almost gone, the sun is out for more than 2 hours a day, and finally walking outside is somewhat enjoyable. Today, the birds came en masse. Sounds like an aviary outside.

I love seasons.

Ok I Confess...I Watched Dr. Phil and Nadya - The Octuplet Mother

Yes, I did. I watched it. I am not that into Dr. Phil, but I just have to wonder WTF! Seriously a big, WTF!? I really feel sad for her and her children. I don't understand why people are so outraged.

It is upsetting, but really there are way too many people involved in this to put the blame just on her. Hopefully she can get the help she needs. Maybe instead of being angry, people could try turning that into something more positive? Who knows.....

80 inches of snow and counting....

Thank God I work from home so I can look out the window at the pretty snow! And not have to worry about driving in it.

I actually do like the snow. We live on a lake so all I have to do is look out the window at the pines, the lake and the mountain across the lake. Ah, it's a hard life isn't it?
